About the Project

Once an informal settlement within a formal structure with broken water pipes, a collapsed sewerage system and illegally occupied by the homeless and informal traders, now stands a range of affordable high quality rental housing units.

AA House was purchased by JOSHCO in 2009 and located at 20 Wanderers Street on the corner of Noord Street in the Johannesburg Inner City. The AA House building is located adjacent to the Noord Street taxi rank, one of the busiest parts of the Johannesburg Inner City where the need for affordable rental accommodation is very acute.

In keeping with the objective of promoting a range of rental facilities the 8 storey AA House building consists of emergency accommodation on the first floor, 30 communal units on the second floor, 167 bachelor units, 12 one-bedroom units and 6, two-bedroom units spread over floors three to eight.
