Bellavista Estate

About the Project

In 2005 JOSHCO assumed responsibility for Bellavista with 796 housing units. JOSHCO invested R12 million on refurbishing all the homes to an acceptable, habitable standard – replacing roofs and security gates, painting the exteriors, installing a palisade boundary fence to improve security, adding lighting to hallways and balconies, and achieving full electrical compliance. The estate houses a mixed income community comprised of tenants who receive social grants, and others who are pensioners, unemployed and salaried people. Some pay monthly rents, others pay levies pending the eventual transfer of ownership. Bellavista is now a thriving and healthy community.
