About the Project
Like Bellavista Estate, Claremont was also developed some forty years ago with 752 family rental units consisting of row houses, flats and duplexes. JOSHCO took over management of the properties in July 2008. Claremont residents now recognise that they have much improved housing management, and the properties have benefited from significant investment.
JOSHCO's approach to this re-development was three-pronged: fix up the physical condition of the properties by redoing the roofs, and the electrical and plumbing systems; deliver ongoing quality services in the day-to-day maintenance and collect rents regularly.
JOSHCO was introduced to the Claremont community through a range of consultations with the local leadership, stakeholders and the residents. To achieve an accurate understanding of the wishes and needs of local residents, JOSHCO carried out a door-to-door social survey. This was welcomed by most residents, many of whom came forward to make enquiries about their leases, maintenance and billing.
